A single father who yearns to be a family man, Logan O’Donnell is determined to create the perfect Christmas for his son, Charlie. The entire O’Donnell clan arrives to spend the holidays in Avalon, a postcard-pretty town on the shores of Willow Lake, a place for the family to reconnect and rediscover the special gifts of the season.
One of the guests is a newcomer to Willow Lake— Darcy Fitzgerald. Sharp-witted, independent and intent on guarding her heart, she’s the last person Logan can see himself falling for. And Darcy is convinced that a relationship is the last thing she needs this Christmas.
Yet between the snowy silence of the winter woods, and toasty moments by a crackling fire, their two lonely hearts collide. The magic of the season brings them each a gift neither ever expected—a love to last a lifetime.
Yes, it’s a Christmas book. I got approved for some Christmas books on NetGalley after Christmas. But luckily a good part of this book doesn’t take place during Christmas. The name of the book and the cover don’t really fit the story itself. It just looks and sounds cheesey when it’s really not at all. It was a great book. Each chapter has a new recipe which I thought was a really cute addition. My favorite were Walking Dead sugar cookies.
In Candlelight Christmas we have Darcy and Logan. Darcy has just come out of a divorce with children whom she loved but who sabatoged her marriage. The sad part about it all and what makes me so made was that Darcy refused to tell her family that her husband cheated with his ex and that was why they divorced. So the family expects Darcy at all of the holiday functions with him present. But that changes this year when Logan’s sister invites Darcy to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Logan is also divorced with a young son who he only gets during certain times of the year. He longs for a bigger family and when he meets Darcy the sparks fly.
As with all good books there is a internal stuggle of whether they are good for each other. Especially since Darcy has decided not to date anyone with kids after being hurt so badly by her step-children. There’s a lot of other things going on in this book like Logan buying a ski lodge and fostering some kids for a friend. Altogether it’s just a feel good heartwarming book that I’d suggest to anyone.
Btw I love where Darcy’s parent’s got their names. All from Pride and Prejudice, one of my favorite books. She’s named after Mr Darcy, lol!
